One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is transforming a blank canvas into something both beautiful and deeply personal—especially when the design must serve a dual purpose. For this particular project, the challenge was to create a space that felt like home for a family, while also being inviting and practical for the rental market.
We began with a white-box new build apartment in the French Alps and reimagined it as a warm, luxurious retreat. The goal was to infuse character, comfort, and elegance—something that would resonate with holiday guests but also feel entirely personal when the owners were in residence.
Having already built a strong relationship with the clients, we were fortunate to have their complete trust. They embraced our mantra of “trust the process,” and gave us the creative freedom to shape the project from planning through to handover. Their brief was wonderfully open—“Make it luxurious and beautiful”—and with that came both creative freedom and a great sense of responsibility.
Drawing inspiration from their family home in Singapore, we designed a calm, layered interior that balanced natural materials, subtle textures, and soft tones. Every decision was carefully considered to meet both practical needs and emotional connection. The living space is a particular favorite—open-plan, light-filled, and oriented to take in sweeping alpine views. It’s a room that invites relaxation and togetherness, capturing everything we hoped the home would embody.
This project, like many others, reinforces my belief that great design is about more than aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that reflect the people who live in them—spaces that feel lived-in, loved, and completely at ease in their surroundings.
